  • Building navigation menus and page layouts.
  • Best practices in semantic HTML.
  • Linking multiple pages to create a simple website.
  • Practical Exercise: Create a 3-page website (Home, About, Contact) using HTML, including navigation links and images.

Module 3: Styling Websites with CSS3

  • Introduction to Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
  • Applying colors, fonts, and spacing.
  • Creating layouts using Flexbox and Grid.
  • Responsive design with media queries.
  • Internal vs. external stylesheets and CSS best practices.
  • Case Study: Participants will style the website created in Module 2 using a provided design brief (e.g., NGO or corporate style guide).

Module 4: Building and Managing Websites with WordPress

  • Introduction to WordPress and content management systems (CMS).
  • Installing and setting up a WordPress site.
  • Choosing and customizing themes.
  • Managing pages, posts, menus, and media.
  • Installing and configuring essential plugins (contact forms, SEO tools, etc.).
  • Practical Exercise: Create a simple WordPress website, customize a theme, and upload sample content with images and navigation menus.

Module 5: Website Publishing, Maintenance, and Best Practices

  • Web hosting and domain registration.
  • Website performance optimization (speed, image compression, caching).
  • Introduction to search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Web accessibility and user experience best practices.
  • Backups, updates, and website maintenance routines.
  • Case Study: Participants will prepare and present their final project a functional, styled website built using either HTML/CSS or WordPress and receive peer and instructor feedback.
